Authorisation of the one-off aid

Who is entitled to a one-off aid?

A one-off aid may be granted to a person in receipt of an old age pension, a widow(er)'s pension, a parental pension or an orphan's allowance if they are in a situation where their subsistence is threatened and their monthly income does not exceed

  1. a) HUF 100,000 if they live in the same household as a close relative,
  2. b) HUF 120,000 in the case not referred to in point a).

A person applying for a one-off aid must also declare their monthly income in their application form.

Who is not entitled to a one-off aid?

A person who is not in receipt of a pension but is in receipt of another benefit cannot be granted a one-off aid. For example, a one-off aid cannot be paid from the Pension Insurance Fund to persons receiving benefits for persons with changed working capacity, disability benefits or old age allowance.

Furthermore, no benefit may be granted to a pensioner who

  • is under pretrial detention, serving an imprisonment sentence, or
  • lives in a long-term residential social institution (including a nursing home, care institution, rehabilitation institution or residential home), or
  • is receiving residential care under Act XXXI of 1997 on the Protection of Children and the Administration of Guardianship or is in a youth custody centre.

Where and how to apply for?

The application can be submitted on the form "Claim for one-off aid".

On the application form it must indicated by any special circumstances and be accompanied by documents which may justify the application (e.g. certificate of health, health of a close relative, cost of medication, non-payment of public utility bills, etc.).

The form, duly completed and signed, must be submitted to the Hungarian State Treasury Centre in the case of persons receiving a survivor’s pension benefit (including orphans), or to the pension insurance administration body of the applicant's place of residence or to the Hungarian State Treasury Centre.

The form can be obtained from the customer services of the pension insurance administrative bodies or downloaded from the website of the Hungarian State Treasury or from the magyarorszag.hu website.

How often can a one-off aid be established and what could be its amount?

A one-off aid can only be made once a year. The amount cannot be less than HUF 15,000, but it cannot exceed HUF 50,000.

Is there a legal remedy against a decision taken within its equity competence?

A statement of claim may be lodged against the decision to the court of the place of residence with administrative jurisdiction within 30 days of receipt of the decision.
