Information for child protection foster parents on the issue of travel vouchers for beneficiaries
Pursuant to Section 4 (1) e) of Government Decree 38/2024 (II. 29.) on public travel discounts (hereinafter: Decree) foster parents in child protection are also entitled to a travel voucher for the care of a child in their care or foster care (hereinafter: Travel Voucher). A foster parent shall be entitled to a travel voucher for each child in their care.
The Travel Voucher is issued by the Pension Payment Directorate of the Hungarian State Treasury. The voucher is valid from 1 January of the year of issue until 31 March of the year following issue.
Travel vouchers are issued on request by the Pension Payment Directorate, using the form entitled "Claim for the issuance of a Travel Voucher for Dependents for foster parent in child protection". The travel voucher must be applied for per child.
The application must be accompanied by a form entitled "Certificate of the existence of a foster parent employment relationship", completed by the operator of the foster parent network. In the absence of this certificate, the application shall not be considered.
A foster parent holding a travel voucher must notify the Pension Payment Directorate of the Pension Payment Directorate of the Hungarian State Treasury within 15 days, by reference to the registration number on the travel voucher, if the child placed or fostered temporarily leaves their care or if their employment as a foster parent is suspended or terminated.
If there is no change in the conditions entitling the child to a travel voucher, the pension paying agency shall arrange for the voucher to be issued and sent to the foster parent by post each year before the expiry of the validity period of the previous year's voucher.
