Hungarian Government Bond

General information

Hungarian Government Bond is a government securities issued with tenors of 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 20 years. It has a fixed or floating interest rate with denomination of HUF 10.000. Each series pay interest semi-annually or annually, from which the Hungarian State Treasury deducts the interest tax in accordance with the laws in force of all time.

Government securities issued by the Hungarian state after 1 June 2019 are exempt from the obligation to pay social contribution tax on interest income, which will be introduced from 1 July 2023. In the case of Hungarian Government Securities put into circulation before 1 June 2019, a social contribution tax payment obligation arises if the government securities were acquired on or after 1 July 2023.

Mode of public offering

The Hungarian Government Bond is placed on the market by auction. The auctions are announced by publishing Public Offering. The auctions take place on every second Thursday, while the financial settlement is carried out on Wednesday of the week following the auction.

Hungarian Government Bonds are available to resident and non-resident individuals, legal entities and non-incorporated economic associations.
