Who is entitled to the recognition and jubilee grant?

Hungarian citizens who have registered their residence in Hungary, persons with the right of free movement and residence, and EEA nationals who are settled in Hungary and reside in Hungary are entitled to a jubilee recognition and jubilee grant on reaching the age of 90, 95, 100, 105, 110 and 115.

 How can the person concerned request the recognition and jubilee grant?

At least 60 days before the person reaches the age of 90, the Government Office of the Capital City of Budapest notifies the person of the elderly age that they are entitled to the grant.

In order to receive the recognition, the person concerned must indicate on the form sent by the Government Office

  • the address at which they can be contacted for a personal greeting or, failing this, to which the greeting can be sent;
  • the address in Hungary or the number of the payment account kept with a Hungarian payment service provider to which the jubilee grant should be paid.

The person of elderly age may refuse the greeting and the grant. Refusal also includes refusal to give consent to the processing of their data for this purpose.

 What is included in the recognition?

A commemorative card will be issued to the person of elderly age and will be presented by the clerk in charge of the address in a personal greeting. If the elderly person does not wish to receive a personal greeting, or if the clerk does not declare that they will organise it, the Pension Payment Directorate will send the commemorative card by post.

 How is the grant paid?

The amount of the grant is paid by the Pension Payment Directorate separately from any other benefit, at the earliest 5 days before the person reaches the recognised elderly age. The data required for the payment are provided to the Pension Payment Directorate by the Government Office of the Capital City of Budapest on the basis of a form filled in and returned by the person concerned.
